We’re still in awe of the intricate marine operation completed to unload MinRes’ first two transhippers for the Onslow Iron project. Across several days, a heavy lift transport vessel was partially submerged to allow MinRes Airlie and MinRes Coolibah to float successfully into Australian waters. With Onslow Iron now live, these transhippers are busy transporting iron ore to Capesize vessels anc...

Hi just asking permission to go grab a coffee, I promise I won't go back home to work
Kiwis are tough lads. Fair play
Would never work for a tyrant like this person. PR spin can make any person seem amazing. This man is up there with the Kim’s of North Korea! His PR team deserve a medal 😂
From BBC news - Managing director of Mineral Resources Chris Ellison said during a financial results presentation on Wednesday he wants to "hold staff captive all day long". "I don't want them leaving the building," he said. 🤬
Yeh something doesn't add up. He said he was banking half a mil a month 'pure profit' in June 82 yet when he start minres in July 92 he only had 10k in the bank and 50k credit card credit.
My mates worked there for a year they get fed like kings and have queen beds in there rooms.... fuck you talking about?
How many barges does it take to fill one ship? Amazing project!

Good luck with the DEI hires
Or just dress it up as woke to satisfy the activists
Get woke, go broke
Loved the details! Really interesting
Bagaimana kerja di Australia sebagai driver dumptruk???
I was standing on the helideck of a vessel doing a mob at ash Burton only a couple of weeks ago , looking down thinking what the hell are those pug looking vessels 😂 now I know. Unreal ingenuity. Well done 🎉
With all that cheap, dirt cheap, iron ore, Australia should be manufacturing steel for export.
Using our hideously overpriced energy............
Better solution. Export steel or finished products Why does Australia allow the exporting of jobs??
Take one look at the government mate and ask the question again lol sold out to China years ago
Awesome you are leading the way.
a lot of big announcements for FY24. big capital moving behind
Australian Engineering at it's finest.
The barges were built in China?
@@haydenbrown5725how do you feel about apple?
And its all about the money and more money
what a load of crap . this barg aint Australian its owned by china . where we should be processing the dirt our selfs but no china takes it makes cheap crap an sells it back to us Australian people even tho the workers are ozy that boat barg is definitely owned by china
What do you mean by "owned by china"? The country of China? Are the barges not bought and owned by Minres?
@@ubermons Company itself is owned by _> google his name (Mr Ellison said China’s ban on importing Australian coal) + also keep in mind. China now buys more than 80 per cent of Australia's iron ore exports. Australia has the largest known iron ore reserves in the world, with almost all of them concentrated in the Pilbara. Australia produces half of the world's iron ore exports.19 sep 2023
More BS that there couldn't be a channel dug right to dockside. In any case this is an excelent engineering solution.
Interesting, whats the cost per ton once on the cape size bulk carriers?
As an American, this is an Unimaginable project! Thinking 20 years ahead, we can barely the 20 days ahead! Good job people 🎉
Tripped across this, absolutely brilliant, congratulations 👏👏
I was only partly interested to watch this from the beginning, thinking it's somewhere in Europe again ?? It's surprise to see something of this scale actually happening in Australia 👍👍
There's a bit of it happening there.
The size of the iron ore operations from all the miners in the Pilbara and their port operations is mind boggling.
What an amazing achievement. Everyone involved should be extremely proud of the role they have played in this monumental groundbreaking solution. I get very cynical seeing public projects blow out in cost, time and general political BS pandering to noise and minority special interest groups. This is a throwback good old Australian "can do" attitude creating jobs, wealth and engineering skills.
Incredible, glad and proud to be an investor in Min Res.
This so brilliant glad I working for company that looks after them team workers . 🎉
Just a cracking good idea. Innovation plus
Electrifying the business but exploring for fossil fuels 🤔
Great story, congrats on living the dream, from helping dad and doing it tough on Otago school of hard knocks, to making it to the top of many accomplishments. What happened to your mate Dizzy, did he ride the wave with you? I had a very similar story leaving NZ in ¨83¨with nothing, never achieved anything like Chris, but had a happy fullfilling life thanks to the Oz mining industry. We both owe Australia and its people the biggest credit for giving us the opportunities, I am always in debt and grateful.
Inspirational.
An insight into the making of one of the best capital allocators in mining
Amazing family. Amazing story. Amazing God.
What incredible Faith from parents who trusted in God and believed that a miracle would happen, and it did.
Wow what an awesome story. I had an apple in my throat the whole video. Your prayer and faith in God is what gives you strength to carry on and bring in healing. Your family looks amazing. A family that prays together stays together. Thanks for sharing.
Very impressive. But a few questions spring to mind. How do the autonomous trucks monitor external things like for example the tyres? What happens if they blow a tyre? Transhipping the ore to a bigger vessel in deeper water is fine in principal, but what happens when the weather "freshens"? What waves can they deal with? I drive a modern truck (DAF XF106), and occassionally have driven Mercedes and Scanias, with a host of "driver assist features", which are essentialy those features that will allow a truck to drive autonomously, if they were "in charge" of the vehicle. The monitors and sensors of these regularly fail in either poor weather, or just for no reason. None of those stop me from driving the truck, because they are not in control of the truck, and all the basic systems (brakes etc) are still working as normal. But if the truck was autonomous, a simple sensor or camera fail would stop the vehicle. This, as other such projects, is reliant on a closed area to function. Autonomous vehicles can not cope with the random actions of non autonomous vehicles, pedestrians, or animals.
They have a private haul road.
Autonomous cars are more complicated than dump trucks in a controlled environment. It is well developed and plenty of solutions on the market already. " Autonomous vehicles can not cope with the random actions of nonautonomous vehicles, pedestrians, or animals." that's far from the truth. A similar system was already trialing in China with a shits amount of unpredictable things on the public road. Just one of the simple job gets replaced by AI and robotic, don't get too carried away.
Taisei Articouple ATB systems can normally operate in unlimited sea states, however most vessel to vessel lightering systems are restricted to a few meters of seas while on yokahoma rubber fenders.
These are the kinda immigrants we sorely need!
So that is were that worthless China steel is made from. Australian ore.
Definitely backed himself and is reaping the rewards, inspirational man
i saw hybrid loader at Rio site more than 4 years ago
Is the truck facility based at Ken Bore or Yarri camp?
The Truck Maintenance Facility is located just off Onslow Road near the Port of Ashburton.
Watching from PH ! i hope someday that i will work for MINRES ❤
A sensor nightmare … what’s the pressure difference going to be on the tyres ? Summer and winter.. a long road excuse the pun …
Minres we can do any thing!
That's my work for a living and I have 15years experience I have worked with different companies presently in Reynolds construction company in Nigeria 🇳🇬 if there's any vacancy I have interest
Wow!! What a man.
This is an exciting project....just fantastic.
Outstanding thanks for coming to Australia Chris.
